I used to live really close to this cafe when I first moved to Bandung in 2011, at a time before there were any cafes in the area. But in recent years, quite a few places around the Ciumbuleuit atas area have been converted into cafes such as Miss B and Wildgrass among others primarily because the air is cool and the existing buildings an incredible example of grand colonial housing.
Kiputih Satu is located just next to the main roundabout in Ciumbuleuit on the road that leads to the Padma. It’s in a grand old house with stunning balcony looking out to the small valley next door. It’s one of the better locations for a cafe in all of Bandung.
The food here is really good. A great selection of Western and Indonesian dishes as well as lite bights. I had the chicken burger and Susan had the Nasi Kenduri. The chicken burger was really good with perfectly crispy chicken, tasty mayo and crunchy hand cut chips. My only criticism is that the bun was dry and unpleasant. I think they make the buns in house, but they need to improve them because they’re not good. Making them soft would be a good start.
The Nasi Kenduri is savoury rice with mie goreng and a big fried chicken leg. Awesome! All of it was very Indonesian and very tasty.
The cold pressed juices are fresh and cheap. So cheap compared to what most people are charging these days in Indonesia for fresh juice.
The cappuccino was served in a latte glass which was odd… but it was tasty nonetheless and not too far from some of the better coffees in Bandung. The next coffee I ordered I specified the cup shown below…
Wifi clocked in at 8mbps down and 4mbps up when we were there and there are lots of places to open a laptop.
When you consider all these points, Kiputih Satu becomes one of my favourite cafes in all of Bandung. It’s absolutely brilliant. I just hope they continue to improve their buns.
