It took me a while to find this place as there is no sign out the front telling you what it is. Hot tip: look for the sign for Suave. Woodlane is in there.
Woodlane has moved around quite a lot over the years and has ended up here sharing a shop with Suave ice cream.
The coffee here is prepared in a more manual style with no big espresso machine pumping out shots. Because of that you’ll find that the coffee is cheaper than the average in Bandung.
I tried a cappuccino and I was impressed with the flavour and consistency of the milk. Susan had an iced taro latte and she enjoyed it as well.
The shop is quite a good one for hanging out with friends especially if you’re looking for coffee under Rp20.000.
When I was there I had to hook into the wifi from the nearby dental clinic and it kept kicking me off because I was too far away. In other words, it’s not an ideal place to open a laptop and work.
Stick to nongkrong and coffee (and perhaps ice cream) and you’ll enjoy this place.

Cappuccino: Rp17.000
Iced Taro Latte: Rp15.000
Despite this, I was here for the coffee so I ordered a cappuccino and Susan ordered a banana choco which is basically a chocolate milkshake with banana in it.
The standard of coffee in Bandung at the moment is very high — perhaps world class. And unfortunately the coffee at Pillow Talk is a long way from this standard.
Wifi here is fast and there is plenty of room to open a laptop and work. I clocked 18mbps down and 8mbps up on my speedtest and it felt quite snappy.
The cafes has space for about 20-25 customers in side seated either on tiny lounges or normal tables. To be honest, they’re done a great job fitting so many seats in such a small space and the only drawback is that if you’re seated on a lounge, you’re not really going to have any table space.
People love to open their laptops in this cafe and that makes the wifi slightly slow. It’s still usable for sure, but it’s just not as quick as many other coffee shops in Bandung.
Prices here are middle of the road for Bandung and thankfully no tax is added to the price. An incredibly popular stylish cafe worth visiting for good coffee.
Most of the furniture here is basically just old crates and barrels chopped up to make tables and chairs. The service area is a jumbled mess of steel, wood and manual brewing tools. It’s wild!
This coffee shop unashamedly caters towards people who are looking to nongkrong, smoke, drink coffee and perhaps have a game of cards. It has loads of style for such a place I really love it.
Give it a try.
Susan had a matcha latte and it actually had a hint of a green Thai tea flavour in it which in itself isn’t a bad thing. Susan did say that her drink was a little sweet for her liking. Maybe ask for half sugar.
The coffee shop has a tiny indoor area which is really brightly lit. It’s a nice place to hang out for a while. For smokers, there is quite a large veranda area which is perfect for nongkronging on for hours on end.
Wifi was medium speed when I was there, but it seems it might be able to achieve 20mbps in off-peak times. In other words, it’s a decent place to open a laptop.
I’m a big of this small coffee shop. Big shout out to Rizal for the top coffee.
I ordered a cappuccino and it was strong with well textured milk. It was a winner in my mind. Susan’s tea was a specialty green tea and she enjoyed that.
Internet is very fast with downloads well above 20mbps and uploads over 40mbps, so it’s definitely a place to come if you need to do some work. But to be honest, most people are here to just hang out with friends!
There’s a lot to like about this relaxing place that puts its emphasis on good coffee and a few cakes. Staff were pleasant and helpful and it’s somewhere I want to come back to.
Lab coats aside, service was attentive enough and I was seated pretty quickly. But one thing I did notice is that the staff are bored. They seem to lack any direct leadership from the owners.
Menu prices here are quite variable with cappuccinos being a reasonable Rp26.000, but semur daging Rp60.000. French toast Rp25.000, Pho Rp60.000. It’s a little weird to have these variable prices, especially when you expect Western dishes to be more expensive than local dishes.
The coffee I had was good. A magic in a latte glass is something I’ve been seeing a bit of in Indonesia lately, but it’s not a big deal.
The food was disappointing. To be honest, it’s no better or worse than Bandung cafe food always is. In other words, nowhere the quality of the coffee.
Sejiwa has loads of potential to be a great place for coffee, nongkrong and some snacks. At this stage, the only thing I would come back for is the coffee.
They’re using a tiny La Marzocco one group machine which seems to be doing the job adequately here as the cafe’s not really that big.
I tried a cappuccino and it was really strong. I like my coffee strong, but people who really aren’t into coffee very much might find it way too strong. Actually, I thought it was a really good coffee with good texture on the milk and great coffee flavour.
I’m not sure where they get their croissants, but I have seen them in other coffee shops as well. I really like these croissants. Crispy outside, chewy inside and the red velvet one I had also has custard inside. Definitely worth a try.
All in all a fantastic new addition to the Bandung coffee scene. Check it out.
Opened towards the end of 2016, the shop has managed to consistently serve up great coffee after great coffee in a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere.
The wifi was reasonable, but nothing special. It’s definitely usable with a laptop to get some work done, but you’re not going to be streaming video or doing anything too bandwidth intensive.
We also tried a beef and cheese sandwich as well as bistik oma. Both dishes were better than expected after the coffee incident. The bistik oma with plenty of vegetables and a decent amount of meat for the price. Flavour was good too.
The fitout of the cafe is quite nice with a large open air area with plenty of tables for nongkronging with your friends.
This cafe is actually just across the road from Paskal Hypersquare Food Market, so if you come here at night, you could always grab a few snacks from across the road too.
Beer is served here as well and it’s open quite late.
